Arthur Mellows Village College

Delivering learning for life within an aspirational culture

Media

Media Studies is taught at the College as a vocational course at Key Stage 4. We offer a relatively new qualification, the BTEC Tech Award in Creative Media Production with 3 groups in Years 10 and 11.

At Key Stage 5, we offer A Level Film Studies and a Level 3 Cambridge Technical in Digital Media as an Extended Certificate and Foundation Diploma qualification.

AMVC is one of the pioneers of teaching Media related subjects and the College enjoys great outcomes at Key Stages 4 and 5.  Media subjects are taught by a small and enthusiastic team of specialist staff in a purpose-built suite of rooms equipped with Macs and PCs running Adobe software, with a bespoke media production room for practical filming which was furnished by funds raised by the Arthur Mellows Parent Teacher Association.

We enjoy an excellent national reputation for outstanding results, especially at Key Stage 5, where we have twice achieved the best A Level results for a state school in the country as recognised by the Good Schools Guide. Our students are also highly valued by universities for the high quality of practical work, and we are regularly sending our students to leading universities to pursue their dreams of working in the creative media industries. Former students have worked on 'The Avengers' movies and ‘Paddington’, Sky Sports and many have set up their own successful businesses, including game design and providing music for Hollywood films.
