Head of College’s Introduction
As the Head of College of Arthur Mellows Village College it is my privilege both to welcome you and briefly introduce the College.
Our last Ofsted inspection recognised the College as ‘Outstanding’ for the second time; the highest accolade that can be achieved. Key points from this inspection are as follows:
“Students’ behaviour is excellent”
“Excellent relationships with their teachers mean the atmosphere within lessons is purposeful and positive”
“The school’s work to keep students safe and secure is outstanding”
“Constant improvement provides students with outstanding opportunities to learn”
“Students are unreservedly proud of their school”
“One student explained – Aiming high and trying your best is what this school is about”
“Determination to succeed is widespread”
(Ofsted December 2014)
At Arthur Mellows Village College we enjoy a breadth and depth of talent, goodwill and commitment amongst all staff and students which is a constant factor in our success.
We pride ourselves in having a caring, secure but stimulating school environment. We offer excellent educational opportunities to all students and the wider community, through the high quality of our teachers, curriculum, accommodation and resources.
Our 2021/22 cohort of students achieved outstanding success at both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. The majority of our A Level students were successful in securing their university places and excellent results were reported with 37% of examinations taken being A* to A grades and 67% of students achieving A* to B grades in A Levels. There was also great success with Sixth Form vocational courses with 69% graded Distinction* / Distinction and 94% Distinction* to Merit.
For our Year 11 GCSE cohort, 80% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in English and Maths GCSE. In addition, 25% of grades awarded were the very best of 9-7 or equivalent. This is great testament to the hard work of everyone concerned.
The quality, ethos and approach we offer has not been built over night, but is a result of a commitment to generations of students who, with parents and Governors, have supported our work. This has produced a College where complacency is not acceptable. We will always strive to improve opportunities and outcomes for all our learners. Our stated goal will continue to be:
“Delivering learning for life within an aspirational culture”
I hope this site will give you a flavour of the College but if you have any questions please feel free to contact us so we can help you further.
