Good afternoon

The Trust is commencing consultation on the Admissions Policy for Arthur Mellows Village College.

This consultation starts on 15 October 2025 and runs for a period of 6 weeks. 

There are no changes to the admission arrangements from the previous year, only relevant dates, however the Trust is obliged to consult as it has been 7 years since the last consultation took place.

Comments on the admission policy should be sent to the Headteacher via office@arthurmellows.org with the subject line: ‘Admissions Consultation’.

Once the consultation period has expired, any feedback will be considered and discussed at school and Trustee level before approval is sought to approve and determine for the admissions round September 2027.

The College is currently experiencing a high volume of in-year admission applications.  There are no vacancies in Year Groups currently, therefore, please be aware that any applications submitted will be responded to but are likely to be placed on the waiting list due to there being no places available.

New Year 7 admissions for September intakes

All new Year 7 admissions are dealt with by the Peterborough Local Authority.
If your child was born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015 and you live in Peterborough you will need to apply for a transfer from primary (Year 6) to secondary school (Year 7) for September 2026.

Up to 1 March all enquiries should be made to the Admissions team at the Local Authority. After 1 March enquiries should be direct to the College.  Further information regarding this process can be found in the Peterborough Admissions Guide and the Arthur Mellows Admissions Policy.

Making your application

  • Applications must be submitted before midnight on 31 October 2025.
  • You will receive an email confirmation that your application has been received.
  • Offers will be made by the Local Authority on 2 March 2026 (usually 1 March, however as this falls on a nonworking day, parents will be notified on Monday 2 March 2026).

In-Year Admissions 2025-26

The College is usually oversubscribed so early discussion is essential.  Please contact the College immediately you know you wish to seek admission and apply using the In-Year application form below.  This is particularly important if you are moving into the Catchment Area or are being posted to RAF Wittering.  If there is a vacancy in the Year Group, then a place will be allocated in accordance with the timetable below.  If the College does not have a place in the Year Group, applicants will be placed on the waiting list according to the admission criteria that is met and the procedure for Appeal will be explained. Please see the Admissions Policy for further reference.

In-Year Application Form - this form should be completed for all In-Year admissions and returned to Ms A Ross (Admissions), Arthur Mellows Village College, Helpston Road, Glinton, Peterborough, PE6 7JX.  This form should not be used for children applying in Year 6 for the new Year 7 September intake.

Arthur Mellows Village College allocates school places every other Friday (term time only). The dates when allocations will be taking place and the deadline dates for receiving your application for it to be included in the allocation are shown below.  The outcome of applications received will be notified in writing as soon as possible after each allocation date and certainly within 15 school days of an application being received.

ADMISSION APPEALS

Appeal forms can be obtained from the College.  Appeals are held within the statutory timescale, and you will be advised of an appeal hearing date once your application is received.  Further, more detailed, information can be found in the College’s Admission Policy.

This information is provided in accordance with the School Admission Appeals Code October 2022.

Year 7 Admission to Secondary Schools 2025

Closing date for appeals (within 20 school days)

13 April 2026

Appeals submitted in respect of late offers will be heard within 40 days of being lodged.

There is a deadline for lodging appeals of 20 school days from the date of notification that an application is unsuccessful.  The appeal administrator will request and allow for additional evidence to be submitted prior to the appeal taking place.   The College will also submit evidence to the appeal administrator in accordance with their timescale.  Appeal papers will then be distributed to all parties and the panel.  Ten school days’ notice of the appeal hearing will be provided.  Decision letters will be issued within 5 school days of the hearing.

In-year appeals will be heard within 30 school days of receipt.

Sixth Form Admissions

The College welcomes applicants for Post 16 Education.  Places in the Sixth Form will be offered in accordance with the Sixth Form Admissions Policy.
