Covid Test Appointment Booking and Return to School Timetable

Following the email earlier this week, I am now in a position to provide more information with regard to the Covid Lateral Flow testing timetable and your child’s return to face to face teaching.

I am sure you will appreciate that to meet the Government directive of 3 tests within 3-5 days will be a massive logistical challenge for the College and parental support in ensuring consent is in place before the deadline of 9.00 am on Tuesday 9 March and the booking of test appointments using the links in the timetable below for your child, would be very much appreciated.  Unfortunately there can be no flexibility on dates for testing for individual Year Groups and if a student misses test 1, they will just slot into the next available date for their Year Group and then consideration will be given to how to ‘catch-up’ any missed tests where feasible, if necessary, through home testing which will commence soon after.

The timetable for testing we have devised is laid out below.  Please note that any students who we do not have consent for, either through personal choice or non-completion of the consent form, will not return to the College until Monday 15 March 2021.

The timetable below also outlines when your child will be expected to be on site for timetabled lessons although the majority of students will not be back full time until Monday 15 March 2021.  During the week commencing 8 March 2021, to accommodate the testing regime we will be working through, there will be no live lessons on Teams.  Students will receive more detail on the provision that will be available for independent learning during that week in due course.

Please note: anyone who has tested positive for Covid19 in the past 90 days is exempt from further tests in those 90 days.  Can you please advise the school office by email: office@arthurmellows.org if this is the case.  A test can still be taken, however, if it proves positive due to antibodies, students would still need to self-isolate for the required 10 days from the date of the test.

Test Booking Appointment System

The online appointment booking system allows you to select your own appointment times and once confirmed it will send you an email to confirm all appointments made.  Appointments can be made from 1.00 pm on Friday 26 February 2021 and will close at 5.00 pm on the day prior to the Year Group being tested.  Details on how to use the event booking system can be found as an attachment to this communication.

Face Masks

As per the previous email, the wearing of face masks is a directive from the Government for all students even during lesson times where social distancing cannot be maintained.  There will be the understandable anxiety associated with this directive and exemption cards will be available for students with underlying health, SEN or anxiety conditions.

School Uniform

Uniform will be required to be worn by all students, if they are in school, from Monday 8 March 2021 onwards.

Bus Transport

The usual Local Authority funded bus transport will be available from Monday 8 March 2021 to facilitate the individual Year Groups coming into school for their testing.

I would like to extend my support to everyone throughout the recent school closure phase and your forbearance whilst we endeavour to deliver a safe and successful return to full time education.

Kind regards

M Sandeman
