To: All Parents of Year 6 Children

Dear Parents and Children

ARTHUR MELLOWS VILLAGE COLLEGE – PROSPECTIVE PARENTS’ EVENING

THURSDAY 8 OCTOBER 2026, 6.15 pm

On behalf of the Governors, staff and students, I am writing to invite you to our Open Evening for Year 6 children and their parents which will be held at Arthur Mellows Village College on Thursday 8 October 2026.

At Arthur Mellows Village College we pride ourselves on being a warm, friendly, and successful school.  Traditionally, our students perform very well and are fully supported and equipped to successfully move onto their next stage.  We were again delighted with the excellent levels of attainment and progress achieved in GCSE, A Level and Vocational qualifications this summer.  Our staff and students are excited to welcome you to Arthur Mellows on one of our most important days of the year.

The evening is designed for parents and their children who will be commencing secondary education in September 2027.  The format of the evening is that the Head of College will make presentations at 6.30 pm and 7.15 pm and will be accompanied by a selection of students from various Year Groups. Visitors will also be able to explore our facilities by undertaking a self-guided tour.  As this evening generates a high degree of interest, the presentations are likely to be extremely busy and seating will be limited. If the first presentation at 6.30 pm is full, visitors will be invited to tour the College and return for the second presentation at 7.15 pm.  Whilst parking is also at a premium, we are able to accommodate all vehicles. However, where possible, please walk to the College and avoid parking in the village.

Please note that the doors for this event will not open before 6.15 pm to allow departments time to be ready.

When touring the College, families will be free to walk around at their leisure to view various departments, speak with subject teachers and current students and for Year 6 students to participate in department-based activities. The Senior Leadership Team and many other staff will be available throughout the evening to answer any questions you may have.

We look forward to meeting you on the evening.

Yours sincerely

J GILLIGAN

Head of College
