Ski Trip 2026: Success in the Austrian Alps!

What an incredible February Half Term! 49 students and 6 staff members swapped the classroom for the slopes as Arthur Mellows Village College headed to the stunning region of Bad Gastein, Austria.
While the journey out was a true test of endurance—taking a mammoth 29 hours via coach—the spirit of the group remained high. Mr Neaverson's comical bingo calling helped pass the time. The destination was well worth the wait!
Fuel, Slopes, and Spectacular Views
Our home for the week was Hotel Hass, and they certainly didn't disappoint. We were greeted every morning with a "breakfast of champions" to power us through the day, followed by hearty three-course evening meals to aid our recovery after hours on the mountain.
The skiing conditions were nothing short of magical:
* Fresh Powder: We were treated to fresh snow every single day bar one!
* Bluebird Beauty: On the third day, the clouds parted, revealing breathtaking panoramic views of the Austrian Alps.
* Progression: Every single student showed immense progress. While almost everyone took a tumble at some point, the soft snow and Mr. Steele’s gymnastic displays kept everyone laughing.

Standout Stars and Alpine Culture
A massive shout-out to Kiran Karia and Lois Groves, whose epic skills and bravery down the slopes truly put the staff to shame!
Off the slopes, the fun didn't stop. The evening activities were a hit, especially the traditional Austrian Ice Curling. It turned out to be the PE lesson none of us knew we needed, proving to be a highly entertaining evening if we were all pretty useless.

A Final Word
As always, the students were a credit to Arthur Mellows. Their behaviour and enthusiasm made the trip a joy for everyone involved. A huge thank you must also go to the staff members who gave up their time and shared their expertise to ensure the safety wellbeing of the students was such a success.
Roll on Spain 2027!
Mr. Moffat, over and out... Miss Martin, over to you!
