AMVC House Chess Competition
AMVC held the highly anticipated chess tournament on 22 and 23 January 2026. With close to 60 students signed up to participate, it was a tense competition, filled with excellent displays of skills and tactics. Year 7 started the competition on the 22nd, with some very close and intense matches. They handled the competition with a great deal of maturity and respect for one another. The final matches between the Year 7s took place on 23rd and resulted in Charlie Brammer (7HGR) as the overall winner for Year Group.
Due to differences in numbers, the other Year Groups participated in a mixed competition. Once again, a great deal of talent was on display. After many matches, the final took place between Charlie Jones (9IWO), and Kyle Haswell (11HVI). The match was cut short due to time constraints, but Kyle took the overall win with the most pieces and highest value still on the board, as well as most overall wins, well done Kyle!
