Year 11 Collapsed Day - Crime and Personal Safety

On Monday 15 December 2025 we held a Collapsed Day for Year 11. The focus of this day was on Crime and Personal Safety. The students really enjoyed this day and engaged brilliantly with our external speakers.
The sessions included:
Sex and Relationships: This session was delivered by Sophie Garton and Daniella Budd from Everyone Health based in Peterborough. In this session the workshop covered topics such as Contraception; Healthy Relationships; Consent; STIs/ STI Testing and Toxic Masculinity. Students were also informed of where to get help and support. This session allowed students to understand the importance of respect and consent.
Vaping and Addiction: This session was delivered by Catch Your Breath. In this session students looked at what do they know about cigarette, E-cigarettes and vapes? What is nicotine? What is peer pressure, or peer influence? Why do young people choose to smoke or vape? What are the risks of smoking or vaping? What is THC? What are the harms of smoking on the body? What could you say to help someone give up smoking or vaping? This was a very engaging session with students being taught about the risks of illegal vapes and the dangerous chemicals that they can contain.
Drug Awareness: This session was delivered by Change Grow Live (CGL) who are based in Peterborough. This session looked at addiction and support. It looked at the dangers of drug misuse and alcohol and how it can affect the body and future health. In this session students were also signposted where to get help and support and the importance of knowing how to walk away from a difficult situation. Students were also given the opportunity to try the “beer googles” and were given the challenge of trying to walk across a room whilst wearing them.
Life for a Knife: This was a brilliant Drama performance written and created by our brilliant Sixth Form Drama students. This story follows a young man who makes the fatal choice to carry a knife to look “hard” to others. Sadly, the plan backfires with disastrous consequences.

Street First Aid: In this session students learnt important lifesaving skills. This included the recovery position and CPR. In addition, students looked at how to manage a serious bleed and how to bandage a casualty. Students also discussed drink spiking and drug misuse and what to do to keep them safe. Students also learnt how to make an emergency call and not to be scared to ring for help.
RAF and Respect: This session students discussed careers and the importance of respect and focus. The students discussed how choices they make can affect their future and the importance of respecting yourself. There was also an opportunity to discuss futures and careers in the RAF.
