King Lear

A huge congratulations to all the students who took part in two King Lear performances last week. On Monday evening, the RSC Playmaker Festival at Ormiston Bushfield Academy, in which the students performed a short excerpt from the play, and which was produced in collaboration with five other local Primary, Secondary and Special schools, was a roaring success.
This was swiftly followed by a whole play performance at AMVC on Wednesday evening, entertaining the crowd with its humour and gravitas. All of the students involved had spent 4 ½ months preparing for both shows and gave it their all. Mrs George and I could not be prouder of them. This would not have been possible without the support of many students and staff who worked alongside the performers to create these wonderful shows, proving that Shakespeare is a cultural icon that can appeal to today’s youth. A huge thank you to you all, especially to the RSC Associate Schools Programme for running this project, Mrs Burns.
