Year 6 Move Up Day

We were very excited to see all the Year 6 students for their move up day with us on Wednesday 2 July. After a welcome form the Head and a little bit of reassurance, they were taken to experience some “taster lessons” in Maths, English, Science, Languages, ICT, Drama, Geography and Technology. At lunchtime we took them to our main refectory and once they had eaten, they went out onto the Year 7 playground to have some fun. Unfortunately, the heavens opened but this didn’t dampen their spirits at all! In the afternoon all the students took part in team building activities and made a real effort to get to know each other.
Looking at their faces at the end of the day, I would say that they had a great time.
In the evening, we welcomed the parents to our information evening which we hope was useful. Essentially, we wanted to go over the basics for a smooth transition and to reassure everyone that we will encourage and support students as much as we can. Parents were taken on a tour of the college and given the opportunity to ask all the questions that they had to hopefully alleviate any worries. Our wonderful 6th formers were there to give a student perspective to the evening, and this was very well received.
Everyone at AMVC is looking forward to seeing the new Year 7s in September and we hope you all have a wonderful summer with plenty of sunshine!
