Student Voice Update

After the recent elections for Year 7 representatives, this was the first fully democratic Student Voice meeting, and it was an action-packed affair as always. We covered a lot of ground and created a lot of work for ourselves to continue the great work that has been done over the past few years to improve the overall student experience at AMVC.

Topics covered were student locker access, school bells and new computer systems.

Successes to come out of the Student Voice include the provision of sanitary products in toilets across the College site.

Another success is that we have received a brief update on the ongoing work by the Diversity group. The first of two murals by a local street artist will be created in the coming weeks to reinforce the positive message that AMVC is proud to be a diverse and welcoming place for all students.

A Student Pastoral group is also being relaunched in the coming weeks where students can raise any concerns with trained members of the student body. More information will be released as this takes shape over the coming weeks.

As ever, a busy and very positive meeting. It was great to see that initiatives from previous meetings are already having a positive impact and I look forward to seeing what comes out of the next meeting.
