Exam Results Days 2020

Further to the cancellation of the Summer 2020 exam season, I am writing to give details on our plans for how exam results will be issued to students this year given the current unprecedented situation.

Results Days will still go ahead as originally planned on the following dates:
•    A Level Results Day - Thursday 13 August 2020
•    GCSE Results Day - Thursday 20 August 2020

It is planned that the events will take place outside in the Main Playground in order that staff and students can socially distance. Students will be requested to come in smaller groups than normal and at an allocated time (please see below) in order that we can ensure we have fewer students on site at any one time.  A socially distanced queuing system will be in place to ensure the safety of everyone on site. There will be a contingency plan in case of inclement weather.

Parking for these days will be in the Sixth Form car park, should it be needed.

There will also be a one way system in operation and students will need to follow signs to direct them to follow the correct route. Once results have been received students will be asked to leave the school site in order to allow for other students to attend.

Students should enter the College via Entrance A, even if they have parked in the Sixth Form car park. There will be 4 queues for collecting results. These will be organised in alphabetical order according to surname, A-F, G-L, M-R and S-Y. Once students have received their results, they will need to exit the Main Playground towards Main Reception and leave the site via Entrance B.

Exams staff will be available for any queries on these days but answers may not be available immediately.

The event is being organised in Form Group order as follows:

Time Thursday 13 August Thursday 20 August
8:30 - 9am Year 13 CAT, EVE/JMF, LST Year 11 ASH, CCK, CGR/ZYO
9:15 - 9:45am Year 13 MRI, RDA, SAH Year 11 GCL, GEL/SMC, GMU/PKA
10 - 10:30am Year 13 SCR, SSO, EKA Year 11 LKL/LMI, MTR, TNE

Students will need to arrive on time for the allocated time slot for their Form Group. If this is an issue then a further opportunity to collect results will be between 10:45 am and no later than 11:30 am on each day however, this is only for extenuating circumstances as we will need to ensure the safety of everyone on site.

Members of the Sixth Form Leadership team will be available to support you after you have received your results to answer any questions you might have about university or the next steps. If you would like to see a member of the team, please head to the main Assembly Hall where you will be given a time slot to see one of the team. Alternatively you can email sixthform@arthurmellows.org where a member of the team will make contact. We are also running a surgery day to provide Sixth Form student support on Friday 21 August for which you are able to book an appointment directly with a member of the team at a given time.

If your son/daughter is unable to attend Results Day this year, please provide a stamped addressed envelope and we will post results slips out. Alternatively, they can nominate someone to collect on their behalf but we would need a signed letter from the student to authorise this. Please send this into school in advance of the day.

Outstanding Text Books and Locker Keys

Due to the fact that students leaving us this year was unplanned in terms of timescale, we did not get the opportunity to collect in text books and locker keys.  If students have anything to bring back to the College, please use this opportunity to do so.  There will be collection boxes for any text books and locker keys available on the day.  Your support in returning any outstanding College property would be very much appreciated.

Despite the unparalleled exams season of this year, we feel it is important to be able to share this experience with students. We aim to provide help and support for all our students when receiving their exam results, to enjoy their successes and to wish them well on the next stage of their education/career path.

We are looking forward to seeing our Year 11 and 13 cohorts in August.
