The tour explored key aspects of the financial services industry, including the London Stock Exchange, the insurance market, and the unique status of the City of London. We gained a valuable insight into how London became one of the world's leading financial centres and the important role it continues to play in the global economy. We then visited the Bank of England Museum, where there was plenty to see and do. Highlights included the opportunity to lift a genuine gold bar, discover how money has evolved over time, and learn about the Bank's role in controlling inflation and maintaining economic stability.

In the afternoon, we headed to the Houses of Parliament for a guided tour of one of the UK's most historic and important institutions. We were able to sit in the public galleries of both the House of Lords and the House of Commons, witnessing democracy in action. During our visit to the Commons, MPs were debating the important issue of online safety, providing students with a real-world example of the legislative process. The experience was made even more memorable when we met a member of Sam Carling's staff (our local MP), who led an engaging question-and-answer session about political life and the work carried out by Members of Parliament and their teams. After a busy and inspiring day exploring the worlds of economics, business, finance and politics, we returned home with a greater understanding of how key national institutions shape both the UK economy and society.
