Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) – Playmaker Festival

An enormous congratulations to all the students who took part in two 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream' performances last week.
On Monday 6 July 2026, at the RSC Playmaker Festival at Ormiston Bushfield Academy, the students performed a short excerpt from the end of the play, and which was produced in collaboration with five other local Primary and Secondary schools and was a fantastic success.
This was followed by a whole play performance at AMVC on Thursday 9 July, charming the crowd with its hilarious misunderstandings and witty play within a play act. Every student involved had spent four months preparing for both shows and were fully committed to giving their very best performances. Mrs Gamblesmith and I could not be prouder of them.
This would not have been possible without the support of many students and staff who worked alongside the performers to create these wonderful shows, proving that Shakespeare is as relevant to life today as it was 400 years ago.
A huge thank you to you all, especially to the RSC Associate Schools Programme for running this project.
